Ken Oberkfell ~ Maryvile native, Oberkfell made it from the amateur ranks to the big leagues in just 2.5 years. Ken was a star at Collinsville for two seasons and batted .444 as a seniorin 1974. That summer he hit .423 for Collinsville's American Legion team and the following spring batted .430 for the Belleville Area College Dutchmen. A junior college all American, Oberkfell was signed to a professional contract by the Cardinals and hit .352 during his first full season (1975)
